MeitY Startup Hub and Meta Collaboration
MSH (MeitY Startup Hub) in association with Meta has unveiled a program designed to promote XR technology entrepreneurs in India. The program was unveiled on September 13, 2022 in an event that was attended by dignitaries such as Meta’s Vice President of Global Policy Joel Kaplan and India’s Honourable Minister of State for Electronics & Information Technology, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar.
This collaboration is part of the government’s efforts to grow the skills of willing businesses in futuristic cutting edge technology. India has a thriving technology environment which boasts of a large collection of creators and developers. This new initiative will hopefully groom its talent pool to secure a indispensable role in the metaverse. In recent years, India has been a reliable partner for supply side innovation, technology and talent to satisfy the rapidly increasing demand for digital goods globally. India is also home to one of the most vibrant startup ecosystems with over 8000 tech startups. The country is probably the 2nd largest startup ecosystem in the world.
This initiative was pushed forward by India’s national platform MeitY. The MeitY Startup Hub operates under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology which is an executive agency of the Union Government of the Republic of India. The agency’s core vision as described is to advance startups, technological innovations, and the creation of intellectual property. The platform currently collaborates over 3000 IT firms. It has also projected a 3 to 5 years vision to expand into over 10,000 business.
