About Jay McElroy and Lunch Box Poetry:

Jay McElroy grew up in Texas and was very active throughout his early years, playing football, baseball and basketball. After his high school years had been completed, he moved on to Texas A&M University, majoring in electrical engineering and graduating at the age of 21. He spent the next 15 years as an electrical engineer and ultimately a project manager for a major oil company in the oil fields of Alaska up on the Arctic Ocean. He then left the corporate world and started his own Alaskan business that he still works to this day. And it was during the early years of this phase of his life that he began to write notes and short poems for his daughters and would periodically drop these poems in their lunchboxes before they went to school that day. And lo and behold, he had actually stashed some of these short poems away in a folder in the back of his office file cabinet and inadvertently discovered this folder about a year ago. Thus, the beginning of the idea for Lunchbox Poetry!!
