Family offices and high net worth individuals often lack access to private investment opportunities, focusing instead on more readily available public market investments. Flux Capital’s mission is to connect family offices and high net worth individuals with unique private market investment opportunities within our target sectors.

We focus on four core industries for which we have long-term sector confidence and an asymmetric informational advantage. By forming strategic partnerships with other VC and angel investors, Flux Capital is able to achieve an otherwise unattainable level of access to investment opportunities across these sectors.

  • Please tell us how you make sure your customers will become raving fans of your company?

We deliver above average returns for our investors, compared to both the market and other venture capital funds.

  • Please tell us the one thing that separates your business from the competition.

Each member of our leadership team has extensive experience building startup companies from the ground up. Many fund managers who invest in startups have never actually successfully built and sold one themselves. However, an intimate understanding of which factors, large and small, ultimately contribute to the long-term success of a company can only be fully realized firsthand.

  • And to finish this section, please tell us what the one major key to your company’s success is?

Our network within the entrepreneurial and investment communities is key to Flux Capital’s success. It allows us to build a large volume of deal flow, with more access to diverse opportunities than our peers. This larger pool of options gives us greater freedom to pick and choose compared to our competitors, affording our portfolio a more optimum risk/return profile.

  • For our readers just starting to build a company, what advice can you give entrepreneurs just starting out with a new venture?

My biggest piece of advice is to get an MVP (minimum viable product) launched as quickly as possible. Even if the design is not perfect yet, and even if automatable processes are still being manually executed by your team on the back end, you will gain invaluable feedback by having your product out in the wild. In the long run, no one will hold your former shortcomings against you, and you will have cultivated some amount of market penetration, brand recognition, product feedback.

Second guessing yourself and waiting too long to launch a product is almost never more productive. You have nothing to lose by trying and course-correcting. If you launch an MVP that you are 100% satisfied with, either your standards are too low or you could have launched earlier.

  • For entrepreneurs seeking to build a business as successful as yours, what big piece of advice can you give them when times get a little challenging?

Never give up. Period. Failures will outnumber successes. Popular media disproportionately focuses on the successful segment of the entrepreneur’s journey, leading many people to believe that lasting success is the inevitable result of overcoming a series of seemingly insurmountable challenges. However, not all challenges can be solved, not all success is lasting, and not all successes are worth the trouble. People see the successes and the wins, but not the long days and sleepless nights that many entrepreneurs persevered through to arrive at the finale. So, keep working. If your first idea doesn’t work, then pivot, and then pivot some more. If your approach is sound, eventually something will work.

  • In today’s fast changing business environment, how do you stay abreast of things?

Genuine curiosity and a desire to learn are paramount to the ever-changing global business landscape. Information is easier to access today than ever before in history, so there is no excuse to stop learning. Surround yourself with curious and ambitious people with a diverse range of backgrounds and interests. Strive to be knowledgeable.

  • What is your “Why”? In one sentence, why do you get up in the morning?

I get up in the morning to make meaningful investments in companies that will impact future generations.

  • In one sentence, what is the most important thing one has to do to be a great leader?

The most important thing a leader can do is surround themselves with great people.

  • In one sentence, describe how important your customers are to your business?

Our customers are our investors, and they are quite literally the backbone of our business. Without them, we would have no capital to deploy. Without us, they would make less profit on their money.

  • In one sentence, describe a positive way that technology can make the world a better place?

Technology is the ability to do more with less, whether it is connecting, educating, and democratizing communities around the world, or simply making day-to-day tasks easier.

  • In one sentence, tell us how something positive to motivate our readers?

Push yourself, because no one is going to do it for you.

  • In one sentence, tell us how you start your day to get ready?

To maintain an informational edge, it’s vital to stay current on world affairs, so every morning I spend one hour reading my favorite news publications.

  • In one sentence, describe how you handle rejection and setback?

Rejection is an integral and unavoidable stop on the path to success.

  • In one sentence, describe what your hiring philosophy is?

Interview 20 people before making 1 hire. The interviewing process will unavoidably yield some amount of additional insight that you had not yet considered.

  • In one sentence, describe how you keep your sanity in a competitive business environment?

Competition pushes me to perform at my highest capacity every single day, and as a result my productivity is optimized, both in relative and absolute terms.
