Ted Kallmyer is a Certified Nutritional & Fitness Coach, Author, and Editor of HealthyEater.com. Ted, thank you so much for participating in the DotCom Magazine Entrepreneur Spotlight Series. We really appreciate it. This series spotlights leaders, thought leaders, founders and CEO’s that are making a difference in their respective fields.. To begin, we would like to ask you some questions about your business:

Let’s start by telling us about your business.

I write and publish articles covering healthy eating with a focus on counting and tracking macros. Apart from my free content and fitness calculators I also have written a counting macros course called the Macro Solution as well as offer personal online nutritional and fitness coaching.

    • Please tell us how you make sure your customers will become raving fans of your company?
First, I don’t hide all my information behind a paywall. I provide a lot of free resources on my website as well as engage will visitors in the comment section of my various articles. Secondly, I believe that every email that I receive is priority so I do my best to answer questions from my clients in a timely manner and take time to respond in a way that answers their questions thoroughly.
    • Please tell us the one thing that separates your business from the competition?
The personal attention and expertise while at an affordable price. Others in the same field do a bait and switch where they promote themselves as a coach but then once people sign up, they are transferred to a different person who doesn’t have an established reputation or exercise. I personally work with each client who signs up and keep my fees affordable.
    • And to finish this section, Please tell us what is the one major key to your company’s success?
Building the groundwork. I spent years writing content and developing Healthyeater.com before I ever tried to sell anything. Reputation as an expert is crucial and taking time to establish that first is the key to success in this industry.
    • For our readers just starting to build a company, what advice can you give entrepreneurs just starting out with a new venture?
Be patient and spend time doing the hard word that doesn’t produce an instant return on investment. Very few people are instantly successful and this is by a far an exception. Most people who are successful have spent years developing a product or a service.
    • For entrepreneurs seeking to build a business as successful as yours, what big piece of advice can you give them when times get a little challenging?
Perseverance and adaptation. I’ve had many setbacks and challenges over the years but learning to keep going through the lean times and adapt to changing trends and market conditions is key.
    • In today’s fast changing business environment, how do you stay abreast of things?
Since much of my business depends on online search, I stay up-to-date concerning SEO and best practices. I also pay attention to trends that are happening in the nutrition and fitness space.
    • What is your “Why”? In one sentence, why do you get up in the morning?
Knowing that my efforts are helping people to lead healthier lives and have better relationships with food.
    • In one sentence, what is the most important thing one has to do to be a great leader?
Take time to listen and respect the various journeys people are on.
    • In one sentence, describe how important your customers are to your business?
My customers are the foundation of my business so keeping them happy and satisfied is of utmost importance.
    • In one sentence, describe a positive way that technology can make the world a better place?
It enables us to live healthier lives by giving us practical tools that we can use everyday to track our nutrition as well as our fitness.
    • In one sentence, tell us how something positive to motivate our readers?
Focus on the big picture and where you see yourself a year from now instead of temporary struggles and failures.
    • In one sentence, tell us how you start your day to get ready?
I start my day with a tall glass of water and a good cup of coffee.
    • In one sentence, describe how you handle rejection and setback?
I mope a little, wallow a little, and then pick myself up, learn what I can from the situation, and then move on.
    • In one sentence, describe how you keep your sanity in a competitive business environment?I keep focused on why I wanted to do this in the first place, which is to help people.
    • In one sentence, describe what your hiring philosophy is?
      I’m a one man show!
