Bop Design is a B2B marketing agency that specializes in web design, content marketing and branding

Kara, thank you so much for taking the time out of your busy day for this interview about your company, leadership, and entrepreneurship.

    1. Kara, please tell us about Bop Design. What is the elevator pitch?

Bop Design is a B2B marketing agency that specializes in web design, content marketing and branding. We work with businesses around the world in the software, technology, engineering and consulting space to build websites that generate, and nurture ideal client leads.

    2. What team the one thing that makes Bop Design great?

Our team at Bop Design is great because we are a small, nimble group with different specialties that collaborate seamlessly to produce amazing work for our clients. The team is dependable, respectful and truly cares about the quality of the work they produce.

    3. Please tell us what is the key to being a great entrepreneur?

Having a vision and knowing when and how to change direction.

    4. What is the best advice can you give to a young entrepreneur just starting out with a new venture?

Don’t compare yourself to others and make your mental health a top priority. The entrepreneurial journey can easily become ego driven. Building a business that inflates your ego is a recipe for disaster. Building a business is also not for the faint of heart – whether you are bootstrapping, raising money or taking over a family business. There is a lot of stress, long hours, heartache, but there are also great wins and successes along the way. Making your mental health a priority and keeping a cool head is key to riding the highs and lows of entrepreneurship.

    5. What is the one thing that you, as a person, want to be known for?

A good listener and pragmatic problem solver.

    6. When building a business, what is the one most important thing to keep in mind at all times?

That I am making decisions consistent with my values and goals.

    7. When hiring employees, what is the one most important thing you look for?

I look for people who care about the quality of the work they do. I hate micromanaging and I need to know my team members are going to do their best work even when someone isn’t looking.

    8. What is your “Why”? Why do you get up in the morning?

We work with awesome companies at Bop Design in fields like technology, engineering and life sciences, that are changing how the world works for the better. We get to brand them, market them and help them grow. At the same time, I get to create jobs and work with an amazing team who I also help grow professionally and personally. I get up because I don’t want to let any of them down and I’m truly excited to witness my team and clients’ progress.

    9. What is the one thing that makes a great company?

Practicing what you preach in all aspects of your business – how you treat your team, your vendors, your clients.

    10. What is the one thing that makes a great leader?

    Fortitude.
