Who doesn’t love sport? Even if you don’t play it yourself, you are likely an active spectator of various sports. Even if you personally aren’t, you’ll know people who are. In the following article, at DotCom Magazine, we have put together a list of what we feel are the top five coolest and most valuable sports teams in the world. We have tried to represent all sporting disciplines and rather than just focusing on American and British teams, we have highlighted European teams too.
Dallas cowboys
Dallas Cowboys are a very successful and extremely valuable NFL team that was first established in 1960, and took part in their first season that same year. They are based at the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and play all their home games in the AT&T Stadium, in Arlington. Some of the most notable players in the Dallas Cowboys’ history includes the Super Bowl MVPs Larry Brown, Randy White and Chuck Howley and Hall of Famers like Delon Sanders, Herb Adderley and Lance Alworth. FC Barcelona
The professional soccer team FC Barcelona are based, as you’d guess, in Barcelona, Spain and play their home games at the 99,354 capacity grounds known as Camp Nou. They are often nicknamed as just Barca and have been an active team since 1899, when they were formed by a collective of Catalan, English and Swiss footballers that was led by Joan Gamper. The club is one of the most popular club teams in the world, along with England’s Manchester United. Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi are two of the notable players currently playing for the team. Whereas in the past, greats such as Maradona, Gary Lineker and Michael Laudrup have taken to the field for them.
Los Angeles Lakers
Another NBA great, the Los Angeles Lakers have been an active team since 1947 when they were originally known as the Minneapolis Lakers before changing to the Los Angeles Lakers in 1960. They play their home games at the Staples center and some of the biggest names that have played for them include Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Shaquille O’Neal and even Kobe Bryant in their earlier days. Their logo is highly recognizable as an orange basketball with the name of the team written over it in italics and a striking purple color.
Real Madrid Club de Futbol
Although they are officially known as Real Madrid Club de Futbol, it is most commonly shortened to just Real Madrid. Another Spanish club, that was formed in 1902, they are based in Madrid and play their home matches at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. Along with Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao, Barcelona were one of the founding members of the main Spanish league La Liga that have never experienced relegation from the premier division since it was established in 1929. Some of the notable players for the current squad include Luka Modric and Gareth Gale. In the past, they have also had includes Pepe, Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Manchester United
It has to be said, of all club soccer teams there are throughout the world, the one that stands out most and that you can guarantee someone just about anywhere has heard of is Manchester United. The Red Devils as they’ve been known in the past seem to illicit some sense of pride, not just in Mancunians (people form Manchester) but people elsewhere too.
