AI relationship revolution: A recent study looks at the trend of AI-powered bots used for friendship, romance and more.
London, 20th October 2023 – AI Product Reviews looks at the numbers behind the burgeoning AI (artificial intelligence) relationship industry.
Analysing the top 50 commonly searched terms on Google, AI Product Reviews found that there are over 73,000 searches each month for AI relationship bots. Unsurprisingly demand for AI girlfriends is leading the way with over 35,350 people searching google for an AI girlfriend each month, compared to 10,100 for AI friends and just 3,700 for AI boyfriends.
Google Trends data shows a 2,400% increase in search interest for AI girlfriends and there are many apps launching to meet the interest in AI partners. One such app, Romantic AI states on its website, “Have you ever dreamed about the best girlfriend ever? Almost for sure! Now she can be at your fingertips.”. While another, Replika, boasts 2 million users of its app.
More than just friends
Friendship and romance aren’t the only things that users of these apps are looking for. AI sex chat related terms get 24,250 searches each month.
These stats bring about all sorts of ethical and societal questions that will be addressed in coming years. Recent polling in the UK by YouGov asked “How would you feel if a romantic partner of yours was exchanging sexual messages with an AI chatbot?” to which a majority of 58% of respondents said they would be angry or upset about it and just 12% said they would be ok with it.
Other ways AI is impacting romance
Other studies have shown how AI is impacting the world of dating. A survey by Attractiontruth found 1 in 5 men on dating apps are now using AI with the hope of improved responses from potential matches.
