Plantd Secures $10 Million Series A Funding

Sustainable materials company Plantd, based in Durham, North Carolina has secured $10 million in its latest Series A funding round led by American Family Ventures.

Plantd will deploy the secured funds to develop its agriculture supply chain and to organize its modular automated continuous press deployed to engineered building materials.

Plantd CEO Josh Dorfman, and the cofounders Huade Tan and Nathan Silvernail began Plantd as a platform to manufacture building materials which can substitute the traditional home construction products without any enforced alternative installation technique.

Plantd substitutes the idea of cutting down trees with the planting of perennial grass forging an unprecedented system that ensures carbon emission balancing. According to Plantd, it operates a system of Structural Panels which retain 80% of the atmospheric carbon dioxide captured in the field. This is subsequently locked away inside the walls and roofs of new homes.
