Let us start by telling us about your business.

Described as An Etsy marketplace and Pinterest catalog come to life, Painted Tree Boutiques became a retail shopping experience specializing in gifts, home decor, and boutique clothing with hundreds of shops all under one roof. Believing we’re better together, our mission is to create opportunities for local shops, artisans, creators, designers and decorators to follow their dreams and thrive together in a community of like minded people. On it’s own a shop might struggle paying rent in a great location, but together, we can afford prime locations in high traffic shopping centers. On it’s own a shop may struggle to pay rent, utilities, insurance, payroll, security, software and so much more, but by sharing those costs with hundreds of others, each shop pays a fraction of those costs. Most importantly, on it’s own a shop might never be discovered by a shopper, but when its combined with hundreds of other shops to create a massive and truly unique shopping experience with merchandise you can’t find anywhere else, a shop can truly thrive.

Please tell us how you make sure your customers will become raving fans of your company?

Painted Tree is a thriving community of shops where creativity flourishes and shoppers hunt for unique merchandise around every corner all while knowing they are supporting local, small businesses in their community.

Please tell us the one thing that separates your business from the competition.

We’re not one store, we are hundreds of small, local shops all under one roof.

And to finish this section, please tell us what the one major key to your company’s success is?

Our success stems from our shop owners collectively offering unique and quality products in well designed spaces. We offer the opportunity and collectively we are all able to thrive.

For our readers just starting to build a company, what advice can you give entrepreneurs just starting out with a new venture?

Just do it. Don’t wait until everything is perfect. Just start building and perfect it as you go. Never lose sight of why you are doing what you are doing and let the why drive you to succeed.

For entrepreneurs seeking to build a business as successful as yours, what big piece of advice can you give them when times get a little challenging?

Remember your why. Just keeping moving forward.

In today’s fast changing business environment, how do you stay abreast of things?

I listen to audiobooks and podcasts in my car or on planes. Any chance I get, I try to talk to other entrepreneurs to collaborate and learn from them. Luckily for us, our business is built on providing opportunities for other entrepreneurs to succeed, so we are surrounded by like minded people everyday.

What is your “Why”? In one sentence, why do you get up in the morning?

Believing we’re better together, our mission is to create opportunities for local shops, artisans, creators, designers and decorators to follow their dreams and thrive together in a community of like minded people. Hearing stories of shop owners who are able to pay for their kids college or retire early because of their earnings at Painted Tree is the most satisfying feeling in the world. We’re in this together, and when they win, we all win.

In one sentence, what is the most important thing one has to do to be a great leader?

Remember the why and share it as often as possible. If your why is good enough, good people will join your team naturally and your business will thrive.

In one sentence, describe how important your customers are to your business?

For us, our primary customer is our shop owner. Everything we do revolves around helping them succeed.

In one sentence, describe a positive way that technology can make the world a better place?

We believe we are stronger together and technology allows us to connect with shop owners and shoppers across the country.

In one sentence, tell us how you start your day to get ready?

The best days begin with a workout, meditation, and coffee.

In one sentence, describe how you handle rejection and setback?

There is no failure, there’s either success or an opportunity to learn and grow.

In one sentence, describe what your hiring philosophy is?

I’ve found who you work with matters even more than what you do. We try to choose people we want to work with. People with the same values. Often we shape the job around the person as we get to know their skills, talents and gifts.

In one sentence, describe how you keep your sanity in a competitive business environment?

We believe if we are the best company we can be, we won’t have to worry about the competition.
